A Care Bears Party Menu has Lots of Sweet Treats

Now the Care Bears are a nostalgic name to some, it’s been around for a decade or two at least. Still just as popular as when the original series aired with the kids who watch it, care bears is also known with some of the older kids and young adults who used to watch the show before it became too “lame”. Care Bears is a show that has stuffed bears living on clouds usually with a rainbow nearby. So any of those as well as a soft pastel color theme will go very well indeed with a Care Bears party.

A fun Care Bears menu might involve lots of candies and treats like Jelly Beans. There just seem to be as many flavors of Jelly Bean as there are Care Bears. You can also serve up lots of light and fluffy dishes as they can usually be found amongst the clouds of Care Bear land. A dish of Yams with Marshmallow topping needn’t only be a Thanksgiving treat. You can also serve it up at the Care Bears party. In addition a homemade fruit salad with apples, berries, walnuts, citrus and plenty of whipped cream topping can be a great dessert for this party. If you like you can serve up this treat or some ice cream in bowls of cooked meringue.

Meringue bowls for your Care Bears party are a little time consuming so its best to make them up the night or day before the party. On the plus side the recipe is extremely simple. You’ll need, 5 eggs and a cup or so of sugar. Crack the eggs and pour only the egg whites into a mixing bowl. Add a little bit of water and some of the sugar. Start whipping the egg whites with a whisk. It will take a while and some more sugar added in increments, but eventually you should reach a stage where the egg whites get very foamy, and turn white. You’ll know they are done when they stay in what are called, ‘stiff peaks’ if you pull out a dollop or two with the whisk. This means that the whites will stay in place if you pull them into a peak with the whisk. Next take the Care Bears Party Meringues and place large dollops on a pan. Press the centers of the meringue dollops into a shallow bowl with a spoon. Place the pan in the oven at about 200 degrees. The meringues will cook very slowly and harden so you’ll need to keep a close eye on them. If it looks like they are starting to burn, turn down the oven to 150 degrees. The Care Bears Meringues are done when they are hard to the touch, a light brown to pinkish color and snap like a cracker if bent. These sweet treats are entirely edible and make great bowls.

Don’t forget, as if you could, that when holding a Care Bear party for the young there tends to be quite the after party clean up job. For this reason, and because it can add to the d├ęcor if you find them themed, you should obtain disposable plates, cups, utensils, napkins and the like.
